Barcelona will be looking to sign at least one central defender in 2026, although their finances will depend who they go for. Given that a Robert Lewandowski replacement would also be needed, it may be that the Catalans opt for a low-cost option \u2013 and that is where Luiz Benedetti could come in.<\/p>\n

At 19, Benedetti would be a player for the future, but he would also be a perfect profile for the first team, given that he is left-sided. Barcelona have received positive reports<\/a> on the Palmeiras man, so it would be no surprise if a move was made \u2013 especially as he may not need to be registered with La Liga.<\/p>\n

However, there is a chance that Barcelona miss their chance to sign Benedetti, as CaughtOffside<\/a> have reported that Arsenal are eyeing a move for the teenager during the winter transfer window. The Premier League side are said to have monitored the young Brazilian \u201cfor a long time\u201d.<\/p>\n

Benedetti could be an excellent market opportunity<\/h2>\n

It is clear that Barcelona could struggle to sign a proper replacement for the recently-departed Inigo Martinez, especially given that nothing was done after he left for Al-Nassr in August. And with a new number nine also needed, it would be no surprise to see the Catalans spend big in that area, before looking for a market opportunity in defence \u2013 and Benedetti could fit the bill in that regard.<\/p>\n

There is still plenty of time to go until the winter transfer window opens in January, so Barcelona can wait to make a definitive decision about their interest in Benedetti. Much could also depend on how their current centre-backs get on during the first half of the season \u2013 so far they\u2019ve struggled, but there is a long way to go until the market re-opens for business.<\/p>\n
